Far too long

July?!

July?!!?

That was the last time I blogged? Tsk, tsk. Bad Emma.

Other news: Started Uni. Fresher's Week. Presentation on trees (...I know, wierd...). Looking forward to lectures.

Will blog more and in more detail some time soon, but I have to go get ready for my presentation before the 30min+ walk to Uni... hope it doesn't rain *glares at British weather*

Hope everyone had a nice 'summer' (or what you can call a 'summer') :)

Em xx

July

It is July, right? In that case, where the hell is the sun? The weekend was okay weatherwise, but Monday came around again, and it rained just as much as it has been doing! Oh, well.

Me and Chris are off on holiday on Saturday. We're flying to Jersey for a week - I can't wait! The weather is not quite what we were expecting. I think there will be less sunbathing than planned, but it should be fun :D

In other news, I'm officially moved into Chris's house in Cheltenham. It's really nice living here. Now I'm here permanently, I really feel part of the Britton family :D Which is really, really nice :)

I'm just now awaiting my results. My exams all went well, I think. Should I get the grades I want, I'll be starting at the University of Gloucestershire in October, studying English Literature and Language. I can't wait to start, even though I'm quite scared!! I'm sure that I'll be fine.

I hope everyone's summer is going well so far, despite the weather!

Update

Hmm, it appears that p27 has been slightly ignored by me as of late, so I thought an update would be good. :)

Starting off - Last day of 'school' - 18th May:
We all (about 20 of us) headed to the park near our school and had a picnic and a football game to celebrate the end of year 13.

.... such dramatic action.

It was a nice afternoon, and a great way of celebrating the end of two years with these guys. :D

Then I drove over to Cheltenham. Over the next few weeks, me and Chris managed to get (pretty much) all of my stuff from home into his house. It's not all put away yet, though. :S but all my clothes are in, and all p27 women will know that that's a pretty big achievement in itself...

We've had a nice time so far. Planned our summer-holiday, Chris has put up a new wardrobe and chest of drawers for our room and had fun :)

We also went to London to see Spamalot at the Palace Theatre on Monday 28th May, which was great :D We had a lovely meal at the hotel before the show and we walked along to the theatre which looked like this:

...which is pretty cool. :)

And we also did a bit of sightseeing on the Tuesday. We walked over to the London Eye and went for a 'flight' and wondered along the Thames doing touristy things :P

It was a lovely trip and a load of fun :D

On Monday, me and Chris went back to Northampton for a dinner with my parents and siblings for my sister's 21st birthday which was nice. :)

Anyway, since then it's been mainly revision for me. First exam is on Friday, and the last is on Wednesday the 20th June. Eek. But soon it'll alllll be over until Uni. Which, by the way, I have a place at now :) I got accepted by all my 6 choices and I accepted the place at Gloucestershire. Roll on September... well, actually, would rather roll on 21st June!

On the 30th, me and Chris are going to my end of year ball. I have a lovely dress and some goooooorgeous shoes. It should be great fun :)

I hope everyone's okay. Sorry for not being on to comment on everyone's blogs!! xx

End of an era.

For a Thursday, today was good. :)

..in fact, it was the last 'Thursday' as I know it.

Today we had out 'Leavers of 2007' assembly in the new YEC (sixth-form common room) at school. It was a great show. Speeches were made, awards handed out (voted by the year-group several months ago - awards such as "Best dressed male/female" "Miss/Mr NSB" "Clumsiest person" - who, fake-stumbled on the way up in a traditional, yet cliche, fashion - and "Best couple" and "Couple who should have been") and goodbyes said to senior staff who have worked so hard for us all year (and last year as we were year 12s).

MEV. (aka, our head of year whose nickname is his initials...) was the funniest speaker. He noted that he was a teacher who just "gave long, boring assemblies and made you guys go to General Studies".. adding... "Yes, Javid  (quiet, a little geeky kid who wants to be a Conservative MP when he's older)  just so you know, I do occasionally read Facebook!" Which was really funny :P

Ahh, it was a good day. And even Sport and Rec was fun... but probably only because it was the last one ever! We played softball and for some reason I was on first base, but I managed to get several people out :D Nevertheless, my team lost by something stupid like 26 runs... oh well. It was a laugh and actually a good game (despite the loss).

Tomorrow, some friends of mine and me are meeting up for a picnic to celebrate the end of 2 years at NSB... I just hope the weather holds out, otherwise, we'll have to retreat to someone's house closeby...

This weekend, me and Chris are off to see Nizlopi again. WE last went to see them on our first anniversary, so it'll be good to see them again. :) PLus, they have a really good supporting band called The Midnight Mile who are also very talented from what we've heard on their myspace and website :)

I hope everyone enjoys the weekend. :)

Experimental Jazz

Whenever you see that phrase. Run.

Well, you don't have to, but I don't like it. and I found this out on Sunday night when me and Chris were heading to a gig at 10.30pm at Cheltenham Town Hall. It was part of the Jazz Festival, so were were expecting jazz... but me and Chris think it was 'experiemental' as opposed to the 'improvised' we thought it would be.

The Guillemots are an odd, but funky band and their album varies from really odd, yet likable to poppy-jazz. And some of the stuff that they played on Sunday was really really good. The lead singer (whose name I don't know, sorry) has a very good voice... I only wish that we got to hear more of it over the noise of the first few songs.

It was a nice gig towards the end, though. Really really good.

We had a nice looooong weekend, though. We had a few quotes for Chris's bathroom which ranged from £2600 - £6500, which was interesting. And Chris took another car-full of my stuff down to his for when I move in. I think that he was taken back by all of the stuff that I have. We now need a new wardrobe, apparently ;) But every girl has more clothes than she lets her significant other know about :P

I hope everyone enjoyed their 3 day weekend :)

Not long til I move in to Chris's :D
