Dealing with gadget deals
Urs truly is well and hope fellow 27ers are too- I am quite keen to buy a couple of electronics products and while am a very patient man- i suddenly feel the sudden urge to forth and just buy primarily because of the short-period deals on at Dell at the moment. On the top of my list is a digital camera, a laptop and an LCD TV in that order..Googling and reading a few sites is truly mind-boggling- if only someone had a site that could list the major manufacturers and a nice solid review..Anyone know of any good websites?- have already been to a couple but i just want to make sure i have searched thoroughly before i go forth...At this point I reckon the Dell laptop deals while tempting and quite cheap, they still dont have the best value for money- the other website i use is laptopsdirect and a few good deals on laptops going at the moment- especially for my personal home use
On the digital camera front- i am an absolute newbie and to say that i am not very photography crazy is probably the understatement of this decade- put it this way- am one of those people who just pointst, clicks and does the very basic in terms of getting a photograph (lighting, soft-reflected light ...say what ?!).After some more googling and some real enlightenment regarding cameras, i am no closer to making a final choice- the absolute top limit of my budget being my main obstacle....
Anyways enough of all that-should be buying the camera n laptop soon...
On the sporting front- the Euro football championships have been quite good except for the France - Romania game which was just plain boring. Turkey have produced the result of the tournament so far and in doing so produced an Istanbulesque comeback from the dead ( if you are a REDS fan you will get the reference) to beat the Czech Republic 3-2. But for pure footballing joy and technique- the Dutch have been the team to beat. The group of death they called Group C- well thats true- just for France and or Italy tonight. Its quite hard to believe that the world cup finalists from 2 years ago could both go out and most definitely one will by tonight. But Holland have been superb and while they have not had to come back yet - they definitely have produced eye -catching football with pace and precision passing and killer finishing in front of goal..An exciting night tonight in store thats for sure and watch out for Romania who could yet sneak through..
Spain the team i would like to win, have been their usual self - start with a bang n then turned in a lacklustre performance against Sweden - but i do hope they go all the way this year- the English complain about not having won anything since 1966- well the Spanish havent won anything since 1964!..so i reckon its about time they did ...Portugal have rightly been named favourites and while the Germans were poor last night - never discount the organised and methodical Germans who are masters of winning tournaments and getting to the later stages and my dark horses for the tournament are Croatia- they have some really good players and a great team spirit.
Semi final predictions from yours truly -
. Croatia vs Portugal - reckon Portugal will get through just about..
Holland vs Spain -is too tight to call...i would hope Spanish would get through against France / italy/Romania
and the final
Portugal vs Spain - with Spain to win for me :-)

Big-Smiley Back from the brink...
Hello all..yours truly is back and here to stay for a fair while yet..not that many will have noticed the absence of the random musings of urs truly..but nevertheless am back and its good to be able to blog finally with some assurance that things have turned for the better..
So much has happened and soon even more might be happening on personal level....that s for another day. So in the interim absence looks like Labour has lost its way in the UK atleast if the last few election results are anything to go by- the Crewe and Nantwich byelection has definitely seen to that and ofcourse coupled with all you Londoners having voted in Mr Boris Johnson- fun times ahead for you lot anyways- one things for sure- it will be a hearty ride -:-)..also there have been other local election results going against the Labour party with the Conservatives gaining momentum and a real belief..the next general election has definitely become interesting thats for sure- and I think people are getting fed up with Labour s handling of issues...and thats not even getting onto the currently passed hybrid embryo research bill- whichever side you are for - most definitely did evoke some heated debate and discussion...hmm those murmurs about Gordon looking increasingly worried and bereft of ideas are gaining strength...Also the price of crude oil has gone up coupled with current economic recession....a great change is definitely coming...
On a sporting front - the Red Devils have done the double of the Premiership and the European Cup- getting close to the record of titles won by LIverpool - too close for comfort- its about time the mighty Reds got back to the top and hopefully that will happen next season- at this point being involved in the title race in the month of April would be a start..we all hope...A word of consolation to Chelsea fans and John Terry -its always hard with penalties and United definitely had luck on their side- it was just meant to be i guess. but its all done n dusted n we move onto the Euro championships-sans England. I know where my loyalties will be - Torres and Spain- its about time they won something n i do hope they win the whole thing..but Italy, Germany and France look good with the Netherlands my dark horses
Finally it would be amiss if i didnt mention my sadness and wishes of condolences to all the victims of the Burmese cyclone as well as the Chinese earthquake which totally have resulted in 200,000 people losing their lives ..Nature keeps showing us its immense power that for all our advances we can do very little to counteract - is it my imagination or natural disasters increasing every year with hurricanes, cyclones and earthquakes - nature is definitely giving us a message - lets hope its not too late to heed the warning signs
Wishing everyone a very happy bank holiday weekend n see you next week and i hope that this really nasty cold and throat pain does disappear by then
Live Long n Prosper

Cool Anfield Angst again...
Well first of all well done once again to all the loyal fans at Anfield for creating another great atmosphere and while John Arne Riise has literally handed Chelsea with the tie (almost) with that wonderful finish into his own goal...the game was a well fought one with Chelsea having a few chances but Liverpool definitely can feel hard done by ...primarily due to their lack of finishing ...Torres and Gerrard were denied by Petr Cech who was the man of the match and produced a couple of great saves to keep Chelsea in the tie...Quite a few - mostly Chelsea fans will argue that its karma - for all the bad luck and two losses against the Reds at this stage and while Chelsea can claim that..the tie i hope is not dead and buried..sure its a shock and the Liverpool players , manager and fans are all down....
But football is a beautiful and wondrous game and nothing as they said is done till the fat lady has sung her last....and we have one more leg to go..sure the odds are against Liverpool- never having scored at Chelsea at Stamford Bridge- which has become the strongest home ground in the league - sure Chelsea are a great team and dont concede goals anyway let alone at home...and I say so what...records like that are meant to be broken...and Liverpool have created a mountain in front of them....with belief and luck anything is possible and of all people the Liverpool players just have to remember Istanbul...so hang in there fellow Reds...the tie may have swung around..and yes Chelsea have the advantage and record going for them...Liverpool are now right where they want to be...the underdogs...which suits us fine..simply put there is just one mission now..win the game at Stamford Bridge for a place in the final..forget all other equations or atleast thats the mentality they need to adopt...
On a side note..I was quite surprised and amused to see Hicks singing the Anfield Anthem..the board room troubles have definitely not helped and players have just to focus on their performance ..there will and cannot be any arguments about boardroom drama affecting the players- they are professional and should play above all that...I just hope that DIC can come in and buy the club and let the history and tradition flourish at this great club...
On a personal note. the ardous journey that i was on , has finally come to an end with a little light at the end of the tunnel and I do hope Reds can rise back up and surprise everyone and show the true heart of a champion...come on REDS!YNWA!!

Sceptical 19 Years On, Heartbreak for Arsenal at Anfield..
W.o.W...I have just about come back down to earth after that amazing game between Liverpool and Arsenal-the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal at Anfield which ended up 4-2 to the Reds to win (5-3) overall...But this match should rightly be remembered for the great goals scored..Theo Walcott has definitely announced his arrival on the big stage with an amazing run to setup Arsenal s second goal - with 7 mts left..But that was after a sublime strike by Torres to break the deadlock at 1-1..The game ebbed and flowed but finally Liverpool did get a break with the penalty decision- Arsenal can feel aggrieved but I think overall Liverpool had a few chances in the second half and while Arsenal bossed the first half- Liverpool definitely had more of the attack in the 2nd half..So overall a game that was too close to call ended up producing a classic and in its own way, Liverpool have exorcised the demons of 19 years ago when Arsenal broke Liverpool hearts with the goal to snatch the Championship from our grasp...and not forgetting the Cup humiliation and defeat last season...But thats the past...Liverpool have won and are through...and once again Kudos to the Kop and the Anfield faithful..the crowd definitely played its part..even if Arsenal played out of their skins in the first half and did score first...
A game for the ages and now onto the semis against the familiar foe- Chelsea...once again we have to face them and while it was penalties last time, I believe Liverpool can do it again..they should take a lot of positives from the Arsenal game..most importantly - the never say die attitude especially in the Champions League- if only we could reproduce this in the League... so onwards the Reds go onto the semis and once again Anfield will roar and hopefully the Reds can rise again to produce a great result and go on all the way ...Come on REDS!!

Big-Smiley Cruising to Crunch Time
It really is getting to crunch time for the Reds and yours truly..expectations were understably a bit low to start off with after the indifferent draws and three defeats left the Reds too far to even dream of influencing the title race...but how quickly does time change..(am still waiting for that on a personal front!) .it does indeed..well atleast it has presented the Reds with a chance to play a small part in the title race this season. Why you may ask ..simply put Man United and Arsenal have both to play Liverpool at Old Trafford and Emirates respectively and add to that the fact that Chelsea host the top two starting with this weekend..so all in all the top 4 playing each other for the last set of games...Finally a season where the title race is as exciting as the relegation battle and its about time too!! There are 8 games left and while its a three horse race - a few eccentrically optimistic no rather pure fanatical fans would even dare to say Liverpool are involved in the title race...ofcourse mathematically its possible but lets be sensible about all this
Liverpool have hit a good patch of form and while the last game against Reading wasnt the best- the 3 points was very welcome indeed - next onto the enemys backyard - Old Trafford at high noon on Easter Sunday- what all Reds fans will call Crunch Time ahead of even the derby..which follows the weekend after...and then Arsenal thrice in a week including twice in the Champions League...just wonderful! But LFC do have a few options and possibly a bit more hope than past years where we have been outclassed by United - my sole reason for a bit of hope- Fernando Torres- the new darling of the Kop and rightly so- the man is on fire and long may his goal scoring streak continue...especially sweet it would be if he were to win us the game at Old Trafford- meanwhile Chelsea lock horns with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge- urs truly is hoping for a draw there to keep the aforementioned title race exciting...so all is set..lets face United with courage and a bit of hope this time out...a draw would be nice but a win would be fantastic!
On the news front- Tibet has been bubbling for a while (say 56 years) and looks like the people have had enough..While China has downplayed the significance of demonstrations- its high time the world and the Chinese in particular accept the fact that a large part of the Tibetan community does not recognise the rule of China and there still a simple man who all Tibetans hold in high esteem as their spiritual and political leader- the Dalai Lama whose dream of one day returning to his country still remains a dream- One of the things that am proud to associate with India is that the great man has made a home in our country and I hope India and the rest of the world doesnt let the Chinese crush this call for freedom from oppression...ofcourse we all understand the economic and political clout of China in todays world order but is it any wonder that the US or Europe wont be bothered or is it because the stunning Tibetan landscape lacks a certain dark viscous mineral??One can only wonder....meanwhile tabloid press as well as others here covers a former Beatle s divorce as well as the Diana inquiry-...its gone past the point of being funny to absurd, ignorant and sick..but i will stop my rant now..it never ceases to amaze me how on the one side - there are so many more important issues while such plain and dull things get coverage and even make talking points ....but hey just my own view point ....
Before signing off...A very happy Easter to you all....and see you on the other side...hopefully a bit calmer and happier...(i can only hope)
