Anthony H Wilson

Tony Wilson once said of the film of his history with Factory Records '24 Hour Party People': "The film 24 Hour Party People offers a spirited piece of advice when it comes to the art of storytelling. When you have to choose between truth and legend... I say choose the legend."

Tony Wilson was a giant of the Manchester music scene of the 80s and 90s, a scene that put the creativity of England's third city under the spotlight. Tony Wilson put into practice ideas that many people just chat about. He was a doer, a visionary, and very possibly a shyster in his own right. He wasn't without fault - I'm sure he might now admit that his handling of Factory Records could have been better - but in his own way, despite his mistakes, he was never a failure. Some said he was smarmy, others had no time for the man at all, but no-one could doubt what he did for Manchester and for the music scene in Britain, the shockwaves of which can still be felt reverberating to this very day.

Tony Wilson died today. He was 57. If I had to choose between the truth of the man, or the legend, I'd choose the legend every time.

Today I tried this

Yes, I shit you not, that is indeed Coke Orange. My verdict? Might not have it again, but worth a try for novelty value. When are they going to bring back vanilla Coke?

Catching up with Nag

Hello old blog and blog readers - if there are any left. I've been neglecting you, I know.

I'm afraid I've been like a sheep and been obsessed with Facebook over the last few weeks. And you know what? I don't have a clue why. I've added as friends all the people I wanted to add as friends (all the ones who wanted me to anyway), I've joined a few groups, created a few others, and now... Now, I don't know what to do with Facebook. Where do you go from there?

Well I don't have an answer, but I'm sure that tomorrow I'll be checking and rechecking and rechecking again to see if anyone's messaged me. To be honest these people could just as easily email me without the Facebook palaver but that's not as exciting is it?! I think over time my addiction will start to wane and I'll be after my next fix of Internet community service on some other platform or other.

Or I could just do some work.

On my company website I now have a mailing list interface, which means that I'll be able to keep people updated with what's going on in the world of Add Gravity. I've got quite an exciting 'thing' going on in the next month or so, I've sent the artwork for it off to the printers so hopefully it'll drum up some business.

The baby's growing at a rate of knots, kicking mummy and generally becoming more and more 'real' as the days go by. We still don't know the sex though, which is inconvenient when we need to buy clothes for the little mite. Also, getting fed up of calling him or her 'it'. We have another scan this week, and I'm hoping we might find out then.

I'm going to try hypnotherapy AGAIN in a couple of weeks. I'm sure that this time will be more successful than last time - I'm going to a different person, someone who comes very highly recommended. I'm hoping that I can finally get rid of the self-esteem issues and be just like everybody else! ;-)

Speak later!
