She's Here!
Stop holding your breath people, our baby has arrived!
After an 18 hour labour (induced), Jem delivered her in under 15 minutes, and with an epidural too. I'm so so so so mega proud of her.
So baby Anna was born on 6th October, at 5am, weighing 6 lb 13 oz.
I'm so chuffed.
Jem's really tired still, but I'm sure she'll update when she gets a minute.
I'll post some pictures soon
Xx

Kid in a Sweet Shop
Hmmm term + 9 and still no sign of this bambino!?!
Even my subtle guise of "Baby C, this is Davina, you're live on channel 27, please don't swear! You have been evicted from the big mother house, you have thirty minutes to say your goodbyes", didn't work. Weird that, I was sure it would.
Anyway, I'm trying not to think about when she's coming because the more I dwell on it, the longer it seems to take.
So, I don't know if it's just me, but I'm feeling a strange hype for halloween this year - does this stretch to anyone else? - I guess I'm aiming this more at peeps in the UK as opposed to the US where I know Halloween is a huge thing.
I don't know if it's because I noticed ASDA dedicating two aisles to it's halloween decorations and costumes, as well as funny little accessories and other random bits and bobs (a hail to it's American owners walmart methinks). Normally I can't stand halloween. I find the whole thing to be just another excuse for a huge commercial drive from faceless organisations in the US. I also don't really think that people should be celebrating demons and witches running freely for the one night of uncensored paganism, or is it to ward that off, I'm not sure, and thinking maybes I should do some research into it.
Not to worry though, because like I say I'm feelin strangely compelled to "join in" this year. I've already got a suitably spooky halloween themed desktop going on here, and wander down the halloween aisle everytime we go shopping, like some sailor trapped in the siren's call.
Just thought I'd share.
Fifty squillion points if anyone can tell me the basis of the halloween celebrations, only two squillion if your answer consists of a christian ploy to quash paganism.

A Glimmer?
Well we're now three days overdue, four if we're counting this as Tuesday, and still no baby!
We had a brief moment of possibly maybe, at about 10 o clock tonight, when Jem began to get some coming and going pains, which later decided to go and not come back. Judging by the fact that she was sleeping soundly until I accidentally banged the tea pot off the bench, I'm guessing that the pseudo-contractions didn't return.
So I don't know if it's restlessness or nerves or my body being on the mend from a nasty cold (normal cold bug mixed with steroid caused lack of immune system NOT GOOD) but I just can't sleep at the minute. When I do sleep it's usually restless and if I'm not up until the early hours of the morning, I'm alseep til the early hours of the morning and then up.
Naturally I can feel things beginning to suffer due to my tiredness, not limited to but including; my health and work. I know things aren't going to get any easier once this little bambino is here, but with two week paternity leave due to start this weekend I can at least sleep through the day and develop a baby sleeping pattern.....just means when I get back to work, I'll sleep all day, wake up, cry and demand to be fed :D

One Day....
...in the year of the fox.
Is it the year of the fox? I Don't really know to be honest, and I certainly haven't heard any great black bells ringing - maybe that's because they're not, or possibly because I'm not the chosen one.....or maybe nobody has any idea what I'm going on about.
A million squillion points if anybody can tell me what I'm talking about. Forsooth.
So who'd have thunk the life of an architect(ural technician) would be so full of twists and turns. Well work is full of the ol' drama at the minute, with snide remarks, back stabbing bitching, and inevitable empty but not so empty threats. Who knows what's going to happen.
Well baby or no baby, as of the first of Occytober, I'm taking two weeks paternity leave, and will be happy to leave that aspect of my otherwise fun job behind for a little bit.
Anyways there's a post about general nothingness for you all.
As a side random note I'm listening to Enya's 'Caribbean Blue', and I'd just like to say, what a beautiful song it is (as are most of Enya's songs. Gotta love her, she makes awesome music).
