Loch Ness feels like home...

48 more hours of laundry, last minute shopping, packing, and general stressing out over flying left until i board my plane to SCOTLAND!!!!

I can't believe i'm finally going to see my boy after a year and a month of being apart.  To really top it all off, our good friend Ian (who set us up) and his fiancee had their baby this weekend, Anna Grace.  So congrats to them.  We're off to see Snowflake/Feathers as well, since she and I have a lot of catching up to do as lost soul friends. 

I just got a new job and quit at the Restaurant.  I am currently teaching remedial classes in History to students who failed it the year before. SO far it's working out great...i'm just scared that they really do believe the Mayflower was one of Columbus's ships.....we'll see tomorrow how well they do with the Civil War.....This job though has been a dream because of 2 things : 1) i get my foot in the door with a school, so maybe in the next year or so i'll get a job there part time, and 2) i get my own class!!! :D :D :D

i think it's definitely fall.  i have my flannel sheets on my bed, have taken to wearing sweaters to work, and now have to wipe down my car in the morning so that i can see through the dew on my windows.  The trees in my yard and forest beyond are turning red and yellow with such brilliance that i cannot wait til the apple cider starts comming into the stores.  it's time for apple sauce and the last of the summer tomatoes.  not in the same dish, of course.

it also means that it's almost time for my trip.  two weeks from this time today, i will be flying over the atlantic, getting closer to Newcastle and Scotland for the big adventure.  I've spent $50 on books this week, in order to stock up on all the free time i will have between flights and train rides, and now i'm broke...well, i've been working every day for the last 3 weeks, i just haven't hit a pay day right!  I hope it comes soon, i've got a credit card to pay off before my trip....

Tomorrow night is the girls' night that Sarah and I and La have been planning.  After work, it's byob on the liquor and group goodies....there will be movies and salsa and chips, and i'm sure plenty of wine!  i can only hope...

.....as of Monday, I had my first day as a substitute teacher!! Yesterday was a total breeze as the teacher left sick halfway through the day, but I still got paid a full day, PLUS I didn't have to teach math!

....However, today the math teacher is out (as he will be through AT LEAST thursday) so now I am teaching Math.  I have discovered that I like working one-on-one with special needs students (as his class has a lot) and I also enjoy being in the classroom.  Since this is my first year as a licensed teacher, it's hard to believe that someone thinks i'm good enough to be in a classroom with children, let alone give me a college degree and a certified license to do this!  I'm having way too much fun and it should be criminal--but it's not, it's simple unbridled enthusiasm that only seems to exist in people who LOVE their jobs.

Can i quit the restaurant now?

So i wrote a poem, and I need an opinion.  Or ten.  whatever you give is fine, i just want some feedback.  I dedicate this to the Glamour Age, the Golden Age of Hollywood.

to Errol Flynn sailing in,
saving all damsels in distress?
To new movie lines where it was a fresh idea,
no rude language
and a happy ending?
to sword fights, fist fights,
and the ever comical "space age"
The rat pack,
Judy and Mickey,
Marilyn, James, Humphrey and Kathrine...
All the greats that have passed by,
passed through,
leaving us with things that don't compare to their works...
If only they could see us now.
