NaBloPoMo

I'm still chugging away at it, but I'm only posting here:

http://cha0tic.vox.com/

As it's a bit of a hassle to be double posting. To be honest I'm not doing very well at it. Ah well not long to go now.

Normal service should be resumed at the end of November.

On the train again...

...and I'll tell you what I do loathe. That bloody illuminated apple on Mac laptop lids.* It serves no useful purpose. It has no function except to piss me off.

Whilst I'm on the subject...

...the Orange light around the mains input. That pisses me off as well. Another totally useless, you're a twat who'd put blue lights under your car & think it was cool person. If you think it's a good feature.

In fact I'd probably go as far as saying Macs in general piss me off (I've got one) Mostly because people go on (& on & on & on) about how cool their design is.

If you think Macs look cool & would have one just for that reason you're a fucking twat.

Mac. Probably some of the uglisest computers in the world (Except for the Black Mac Books.)

There will be more irrational posts (rants) about design this month.

Traveling on the train

Today I'm travelling by train. I like travelling by train. This may surprise some of you who are regular commuters. What might surprise you even more, is that I enjoyed commuting when I used to have to do that.

I suppose the main reason I enjoy train travel is that I'm normally heading off for a fun time, to visit friends or do something for leisure, like today. Even if it's travel for work, the fact that I need to take the train means I'm not working in our home venue, so it's likely to be an interesting day.

All travel puts you into a sort of limbo, a transitional space. You're not at home & your not at your destination. Where whatever the reason your travelling for is going to happen. You can read & not feel guilty that you should be doing something useful, washing up, tidying, whatever. You can look out the window & they change the scenery for you. There is always something interesting to see. Especially when you get a sneak peak into peoples back gardens. Who would have thought, for instance, that there could be so many trampolines in the back gardens of South London? Take the Eurostar from Waterloo if you don't believe me.

If you're travelling with a companion you can chat, play games or not, depending on your mood. You get thrown together with strangers, who admittedly maybe a pain in the hole, but can also be interesting & amusing company for the few hours of the journey.

Maybe even just catch up on your sleep.

OK this post wasn't very Train specific. It dealt more with travel in general. I'll try & explore this more in later posts, but I'm on the train at the moment & don't want to be typing a blog entry. I want to be looking out the window at the amazing sunset Mother Nature is laying on especially for me, as no one else in the carriage seems to have noticed it. I want to be looking forward to the gig by one of my favourite bands this evening & meeting with a friend I've not seen for far to long.

Ennui

I can't really raise the bile to loathe anything today or the enthusiasm to describe anything I like.

Today I will mostly be liking Van Morrison.

He's playing at our venue today and I've been in this morning to do the load in. I'll be heading back later to catch some of the show & do the load out.

I'm not particularly liking Van the man's Celtic soul musical stylings though (As much as I like the songs 'Brown Eyed Girl' and Moondance'), but for his curmudgeonly attitude.

This means that he plays 90 minutes dead, with no support (opening act as I believe it's called in the U.S.) After 90 minutes he walks off the stage and there is no encore. So he's on stage at 20:00 & off at 21:30. This counts as an early night. With any luck I'll make it back to my local, which closes at midnight on Friday and Saturday, in time for last orders.

What's not to like about that?

NaBloPoMo

For various reasons I've not been a very good blogger recently. That's by the by and not really worth dwelling on. To try and remedy this state of affairs I've decided to follow belgianwaffle's lead & join in with National Blog Posting Month or NaBloPoMo as it's known. This involves me making a Blog post every day for the month of November. Hopefully this will give me the kick in the pants I need to start posting properly again.

This year the NaBloPoMo people have suggested that participants pick a theme. I've been thinking about this for a while and earlier today inspiration finally struck. I've decided I'm going to spend November blogging on the theme "Things I Like and Loathe."

Obviously this gives me a wide range of things to blog about and I'm going to try to justify and explain my liking or loathing of the things I blog about. Rather than just make lists or statements.

So, wish me luck & let's see how it goes. By the end of the month you should all know a bit more about my likes & dislikes and me.

(This is yesterdays entry, that would have been posted last night, but there was some problem with the site)
