Help a cha0tic

Stealing a title from Ms Bling. I could do with a bit of advice. A U.S. friend wants to send some 'candy' (Sweets us here in the UK) to some children in the U.K. as part of an exchange style thing. I need some suggestions of sweets that they have in the U.S. that we don't have here in the U.K. Or sweets we have here, but maybe are called something different over there.

Thank you.

Subvert the Pop

Wolverhampton Art Gallery apparently has a really good Pop Art collection and have had an extension built to display it in.

To advertise the opening of the exhibiton on the 31st of March and the MySpace page they've set up. A booklet & some stickers have been distributed to a lot of the bars in town.

I don't think they've realised what boredom, a couple of pints, two copies of their stickers & a reasonably creative mind could do with a pair of scissors borrowed from behind the bar.

It took me about twenty minutes & I didn't need photshop.

I'm going to have to get my hands on as many of their stickers as possible now.

Mwhahaha.

The original said: This is Pop!

The original said: I found Pop!

The original said: Is this Pop?

The original said: So Pop!

I wonder if they'll buy these original subverts off me? :)

This is the modern world

  • I'm in my up town local. The one with Free Internet access, killing a bit of time reading about Bento boxes online. I step away from the terminal to get another pint. Two women take my place & log onto a dating site & start checking out the blokes there. Commenting & cackling.
  • I then blog it via my mobi'

Sorry I fucked up

Google Reader doesn't strip Vox posts of their Privacy. It only appears as if it does if your friend changes the privacy setting of their post after Google Reader has beamed their post to you.

I contacted the poster & they told me that they'd changed the privacy setting of the post after posting it. So My Google Reader must've picked up the post before the privacy setting was changed on the post. This made it appear to me as though Google Reader had stripped the Privacy setting.

Sorry if you were worried, it's still something to bare in mind though. As all my fiddling & checking made it appear that Google Reader had stripped the post of its Privacy.

Ruthless German efficiency my arse!

Four black metal bands today with German crew who seem to have taken lessons from the keystone cops.

The LD had the house tech up the truss for an hour focusing (pointing) some open white lights. House tech climbed off the truss & she said:

"Good, Now they need to be in red"

He walked away.

Google Reader strips Vox of Privacy settings.

I've started using Google Reader to keep track of who's blogged what & have it set up on my personalised Google home page. It's great. It uses the RSS feeds from the blogs to let me know when someone has posted.

The other day I noticed a post on a friends blog, read it in Google Reader & then opened the actual Post to see if there were any comments. I wasn't logged into Vox at the time & got an error message page from Vox. I manually went to the page & couldn't see the post. Ahh well I thought, just one of those internet mystery things.

Later in the day I was logged into Vox & visited my friends page & saw the post. At various times throughout the day I visited Vox in logged on & logged off (from Vox) states. The post kept appearing & disappearing. It took me a while to notice that this particular post had been set to neighbours only.

As I could see the post in Google Reader, when not logged onto Vox it seems that Google reader strips a post of its Privacy settings.

I have used the feed back form on Vox to let them know about it. Just this minute, so obviously they haven't had time to reply.

Luckily I'm a neighbour of the person whos' post I read in Google Reader so they were happy for me to read it. There is a potential for embaressment though if there is a none friend, family, or neighbour subscribing to your blog via Google Reader.

I don't know if the same is true of other RSS readers, or other blogging platforms. Beware.

It's my Birthday & I'll work if I want to.

42 today. So far I've had loads of Birthday Wishes via text. Quite a few cards & Two cakes with candles. One I shared with the crew. The other I'm saving to myself.

A lot of people have asked why the hell I'm working on My Birthday. Why not I've done it before & I'll do it again. Anyway the people I'd want to go out on the rampage with are either working themselves or not in Town.

This weekend though. Mwhaha. I have Visitors for days to go out & play with. I've got the club night covered. The Liver is evil & must be punished. It will be.

Truck driving sense of humour.

A mate of mine has recently passed his HGV test. One of the pieces of advice he was given by his instructor:

"The Kerb is like a 15 year girl. You can touch her, but you mustn't ride on her"

Tickled me anyway

Just a reminder.

If you are going to be sacrificed by angry primitive natives. Tonight's the night to be lying on the altar with an obsidian blade poised over your rib cage, around nine-thirty this evening to be precise.

Why's that?

Because there is a total lunar eclipse, they will cower in terror as the moon darkens & turns reddish. Assume you are chosen by the gods & that this strange effect on the moon is a sign of dis-pleasure from the gods & release you.

Me. I'll be hoping it's not cloudy & I actually get to see it. Probably watching from the roof of the venue, or the street outside.

Thanks to MacFawkes for letting me know it's going to happen. She has the full schedule on her blog.

The 'Now Show' Radio 4

It's on now. If you're not listening to it. Get on the internet & use listen again. This weeks show is fucking genius. Especially Marcus Brigstock's rant.

Today

Being born in Wales, of Welsh Parents I count myself as Welsh. Even though I' don't speak Welsh & have never shagged a sheep. I am never English. I will answer to British.

So. Happy St Davids Day.

I hate Red Nose Day...

...as it's seen as an excuse by twats to act like wankers. If you want a red nose I'll give you one. With my fist.

Having said that. I love 'Woman's Hour' On Radio 4. I am one of the 40% of the audience that is a male.

For *spits* Red Nose day Woman's Hour are having a guest presenter that you can choose here.

So Andy Hamilton? Richard Hammond or Kelvin Mackenzie?
