An expensive take out food company is using a cooker that brought back memories of an old great aunt that had one. An outside toilet & just a cold water tap.

Lil' Sis'...

...Is in Germany as you'd know if you'd seen her blog. I should really get some links up on here. I just tend to use the drop down menu though. Lazy I know.
Spent a pleasant evening with her last night. In a virtual way, Via Skype. Chatting, beaming pictures at each other & looking at the website of the school she's at & checking out the pictures of the teachers there.
Looks like I'll be haunting the cheapflight websites & thumbing through my diary, so I can go & visit. I'll be missing the October fest though, as it finishes this weekend apparantly. Ah well, I'm sure beer is available at other times of the year in Germany :)
The other week I spent the (virtual) evening with Bro' as a practice for when he'll be moving out of town to follow SIL & her swish new job in the North East.
Looks like I'll be getting used to using Skype then. Not a bad thing, as it looks like technology will be enabling family get togethers.
Geek that I am I'd set a place for a laptop & webcam at the dinner table. Roll on Hologram/3D projection technology.
I have seen the future & it's Tele-presence :)

Wow! This e-mail coming from coming from my mobile phone. Cool eh?

Moved 20feet

Current position:
Lat: 53° 35.6232' N
Lon: 2° -9.0120' W

OK I moved 20 feet to a different table outside you should ber able to punch these co-ordinates in & see that.

If you're as geeky as me :)

GPS

Current position:
Lat: 53° 35.6202' N
Lon: 2° -9.0128' W

How fucking cool is this? Sitting in my local beer garden. Yes it's quite a warm night. GPS fired up. Menu>send position>Via E-mail. This e-mail fires up. Yes this one you're reading now. This E-Mail that becomes a moblog entry. Just have to add the recipient (my moblog e-mail adress) & type in these blatherings.
The bigger blast was watching the little arrow move along the map (I stole off the OS & geo-referenced myself - don't ask it's a geek thing) on my phone screen as I walked towards the pub.

If you're bothered you can type the lat/long above into Google Earth, OSGB get-a-map or whatever your favourite mapping site is & see where I'm sitting now.

I'm going to send this & then move to the table about 20' away & do another send.

Yeah yeah. It's kind of geeky. Give it 18 months & people will be starting to get interested in it for the location based information potential. Yeah a lot of people are using Tom Tom already. Which is becoming the shorthand, like Google or Hoover.

Today I have been to a...

...Computer fair & am waiting for my New Blue Tooth GPS reciever to charge. This leads to a few of questions:
  1. How excited am I at the prospect of GPS based fun & games?
  2. How frustrating will it be to get the device to 'talk' to the phone or the PDA?
  3. Am I likely to swear at all in the process?
  4. How long is the whole process likely to take?
  5. What time will I go to bed, because of trying to get the device set up?
  6. What time will I be going for a walk to see if the whole kit & caboodle has worked?
Answer in your own time. You may use both sides of the paper.

Curiosity is a terrible thing.

This used to be a really useful wind proof lighter. The sort known as a turbo lighter. Very useful when you've been working out side all summer & have a beard that makes a zippo impractical.
It had some cute little tiny screws that all my screw drivers were too big to unscrew... Until I rediscovered my jewellers screw drivers whilst tidying the other day.
*Sigh* It's going to be a bugger to get it back together again.

Silence of the Lambs...

...not that good a film. 'Red Dragon' A brilliant film. Edward Norton deserves some sort of prize.

Bed time.

You heard it here first...

Listening to 'Old Harrys Game' on Radio 4 at the moment. Mitchell & Web have made the dive into the world of TV. (They were curates egg on the radio)

'Little Britain' & 'Dead Ringers' did it & turned crap. Your words don't have to be so good on TV as you can get away with funny visuals. It seems to me that you don't have to be so clever to write for TV.

Let's hope that Andy Hamilton doesn't get seduced by TV. Lets really really hope.

The bloody students are back & they're in my local. Grrrr.

They'll probably be second years who've moved out of halls into the homes of multiple occupancy round here. Now I know why there was that resentment all those years ago when I was a student & why we were warned against going in certain pubs.

They come in my pub with their posh/regional accents. Speaking in loud voices & acting like they own the place. This is a local pub for local people :)

Ahhh a bit more ear wigging. Not that I have to strain my ears to hear the loud talking twatty bastards. The really irritating group are just twats. The mildly irritating twats *are* students.

I can shout with the best of them. I have to bellow like a sergeant major sometimes when I'm at work. I don't have to let the whole bloody room know what I'm saying when I'm in the pub though. Twats.

Today I be...

...feeling guilty, as I been swabbing the decks in the flat & trying to get it shipshape. I hopes to be seeing more of the decks by the time the sun heads over the horizon.

What be the cause of the guilt Me Hearties? I've had to jettison hundreds of plastic bags. I been saving them as they be precious & made of oil, they should be recycled & re-used, but there be hundreds of the buggers, so I chucked 'em over the side, as ye'd repel a border (well in the wheely bin actually) To be fair I been putting the old grog bottles & cans in the recycling chest.

I apologises to Me Hearties children & granchildren for me harming the world we lives in & they be inheriting.

Currently playing:Pirates swabbing the decks.

What's Tony Blair ever done for us?

Made us realise that things cannot get better.

That 'The Who' were right & the new boss is the same as the old boss.

That all politicians are like crap lovers. They get you all worked up thinking that it's going to be great. Then just go & let you down.

Just fuck off Tony & let the British people get on with dealing with the pile of shit you'll leave behind & coping with whoever the hell the cunt is that will replace you.

Can you tell I've been shouting at the late night radio news with a few drinks inside me? :)

Home & Pizza

Back from Leeds last night, knackered & no food in the house as usual when returning from a site. So off to Dominos for a Pizza & the vid shop for a film. Hoping I could stay awake 'til the end of the film.

'Kingdom of God' I enjoyed, but then I'm a sucker for any film with swords, castles & great big battles. I'll be watching it again before taking it back.

Dominos Tex Mex guest pizza on the other hand is nothing special. Not quite nasty, but not that good either. I wouldn't order it again & I suggest you don't.

Robbie Williams bog back stage dressing room compound. The wooden stockade was our task. Plus you should be able to make out 8" mirror balls hanging from the tree. 100 of the buggers distributed around the trees. Hope he appreciates it.

Celebrity Death Jokes

Well this came in via sms pretty quickly:

When asked about his favourite childhood programmes Steve Irwin replied "thunderbirds was great but there'll always be a place in my heart for stingray"

Beamed it off to a few people & got this back:

Can't believe Steve Irwin went swimming without sun cream on. Everyone knows it protects you from harmful rays!

At least he died doing something he seemed to enjoy doing. Some would probably say he'd got away with it for long enough & it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Braintree

Arrived eventually at around 01:30 & thanks to a lift from a fellow strandees missus. We're off to have a look at the delights of Braintree before heading for the gig. Does Braintree have any delights? I'll let you know later.

What a game.

Travelling to Braintree in Essex to meet up with Miss Mish for a 'Stranglers' fix at Braintree Rocks Festival. (plus 'The Blockheads' with Phill Jupitus replacing Mr Dury)

Trouble with the trains from Liverpool Street station. So a bus replacement & a nighttime tour of the Essex countryside. Waiting for the train to leave Chelmsford at the moment with a lot of disgruntled people. I on the other hand am feeling rather gruntled as I've the best part of a bottle of Bourbon inside me (smug) What else is there to do when the world goes tits up? Drink :)

Mobile E-mail

Well a quick visit to the Orange shop & a chat with their geek means I can now pick up e-mail from My home account & my work account. This will be a double edged sword. But it will keep boss off my back about replying to e-mails quickly.

I may be a techy nerd. But I can't reply to an e-mail if I've not picked it up because I'm in the middle of a field.
