Kasabian

Is it just me or do Kasabian sound like they're performing pastiches of Hawkwind numbers. When they're not doing that they seem to be re-gurgitating Stone Roses tunes.

Discuss.

Dominos Pizza Tuesday night

The place seems to be staffed by 17 year old girls & their idiot younger brother, who all only have half an idea what they'r doing. I am about to commit gluttony with a collect pizza as I fancied a video as well.

Trawling through the message memory

Just been mooching through the message menu of my phone, tidying things up & I've found a couple of Mobblog entries that didn't get sent. They're from this summer & are only really relevent to me. Kind of ranty I suppose. I'll cut & paste & blog, just for my own piece of mind. For when the Altzheimers sets in.

This obviously written when I left Leeds:

Finally leaving Leeds under a high hot & hazy summer evening sky. Heading back to Wolves & home... to unpack & then re-pack ready to go away for the next show. This isn't a whinge. If I didn't have to do the office/company stuff I could live like this all summer & beyond.

It'll be nice to sleep in my own bed tonight. It'll be good to crap on my own loo, but there isn't anyone waiting for me to come back to them :(

Ah well. Take a face from the ancient gallery & walk on down the hall, out the front door & onto the next show.

There is a lyric quizz in the last paragragh. Dark Dwarf & Dr Dexter excluded as I *Know* they know the answer.

P.S. The phone reception is fucking rubbish on this line. I'll send this when I can.

Well that explains why that one didn't get sent!

The next was probably written when I was at Leeds & everyone was looking for a TV to watch the fooking football:

Right. Let's get one thing straight. Football, it's for dullards & morons. No discussion.

The fact there are a few football matches on this summer is not important. Really. It's not that important. Why should a few kids kicking a football round the park with jumpers for goal posts deserve international reportage? They don't.

So a bunch of grown men kicking a ball around is no more important. Easy as.

If you want to throw a sickee, throw a sickee. Don't justify it & make out it's important because of the fucking football. You Waste of space.

Don't try & justify it on the grounds of patriotism. I'm not English. I was Born in Wales of Welsh parents. If you ask my nationality I'm Welsh. British second. I'm never ever ever English. Why? Because it's embarressing to be English. It's Rubbish being English. It's OK being British, they had one of the greatest Empires in the history of the world. One of the only empires to have abolished slavery. An empire mostly built by the celts.

I hope every big screen, in every pub explodes in a nasty shrapnel way so as to kill or seriously injure every cunt watching during the world cup.

Obviously I wasn't in a very good mood.

It's finally over.

Got off site at last. All the Heras Panels, Crowd control, Blocks, Scaff', Forks, Landies, Banding, Pallets etc. etc. etc. All the stuff that goes into making a Festival is gone.

OK There are a few forks left, but they just need someone who can provide a signature when they're picked up. Our work there is done. I'm now sitting in my local having a few well earned tasty beverages.

Aaand. Reeeelaaaax...

Tonight I will be having more than a skinful & committing gluttony with a dial-a-Pizza.

Tomorrow I will be down the launderette around lunch time, washing two and a half weeks worth of muddy clothes. I will then shop for food & cook myself a slap up home cooked meal. Something I haven't done for I dunno how long.

Tidy!

Today I have mostly been...

...driving Landrovers, Forklifts & Telehandlers. We're still on the 'V' Festival Site at Weston Park. I started there the Sunday before the festival, it's now over a week after the Festival & we're still loading out & tidying up. We should be off site tomorrow. Think about the poor sods working in the rain when you head off to your festival fun.

I don't posess a current driving licence. I had a provisional years ago & a mate started teaching me. I didn't follow it up & it's probably lapsed by now. As we're on private land, all the punters are gone & there is loads of space. I'm getting a bit of practice in & quite enjoying it. Driving around the site looking for stuff that's been left behind. I'll have to use some of the money to re-new my provisional & have some lessons. It'll come in handy for work.

I also had a go on a straight mast forklift today. A Pal tried to teach me at Glastonbury 5 or 6 years ago. I think he was doing it so that he wouldn't have to drive the forks. As we'd been up all night it probably wasn't the best time to be learning how to operate heavy plant & the sensible bit of my head kicked in & I handed him the keys back. Being straight & sober today, with a lull in the work whilst we waited for a skip to arrive I got one of the forkies to give me a quick lesson. So another way to spend some money. Taking a forklift course. Getting my ticket would make me more employable, so money well spent.

The last thing I 'played' with today was a Telehandler, a type of forklift with a jib or boom that extends. Very very useful on site. Another lull in the procedings & a chance for a bit of instruction on another machine. Again a ticket for that would bring more job opportunities.

Last day on site tomorrow. I might have a go on the 7 tonne flatbed truck before it goes back to the hire company. Then I suppose I should look for training places. I wonder if I can get work to pay for it. Or find some sort of government funding for training. Anyone know about that sort of thing? Or do I have to be unemployed to get benefits like that?

A day at the launderette is probably what's in store for Wednesday though being realistic, washing the last two weeks mud from a pile of clothes..

I'm a day behind...

...but sort of ahead and best of all I learned a new skill today.

Being a day behind would normally bother me, It would mean working harder to catch up. Not this time though. we started on site on Sunday, rather than Monday. This means I keep thinking it's Tuesday, then remembering it's still only Monday. We're still cracking on though & not slacking. I'm sure they'll find stuff for us to do.

The new skill I learned was how to make a sailors eye splice.

I had tried to teach myself, from instructions similar to those here & hadn't had much sucess. As with many manual/practical skills it's best to have someone show you. I got showed how today. I'll be practicing tomorrow, with a few bits of old rope to make sure the technique is set in my head.

Still no pictures from the festival set up I'm afraid. At least the cam' phone is charged now, so I'm in with a chance tomorrow.

Forwarded E-mail:Phones

I recieved this the other day, information about mobile phones & was wondering if anyone knows if they're true.

THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELLPHONE COULD..There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

*EMERGENCY*
*I*
*The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112.* If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. **Try it out.**

I don't suggest trying this. If it works you'll be doing the equivalent of ringing 999 & wasting their time. Cha0tic

*II*
*Subject: Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remotekeys?*
This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).Editor's Note: *It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!"*

*III*
Subject: Hidden Battery power
Imagine your cell battery is very low, you are expecting an important call and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.

*IV*
How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?
To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:
* # 0 6 #
A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

The one that really intrigues me is the opening a car over a mobile. Anyone got a car with a beamer & willing to give it a try.

Castaway?

I was reading Beachhutmans blog about his visit to Scotland. & it mentioned a Film Crew following the link I find that they're the people that made the TV show 'Castaway' & they're looking for people for the next series. A quick e-mail & I now have the forms. This bit looks particularly interesting
"This year the location will be more exotic but is currently under wraps."

So. Should I or shouldn't I apply?
