Diary of a bruise 2

Slightly more yellow & I think a bit more spread.
What else has been happening? The usual. Heras, Scaf', bike rack & cable ties. James Blunt tonight, West life tomorrow & Simply Red Sunday.
Site tan is coming along nicely. Looking forward to getting back to the hotel & having a beer.

Happy Solstice & a Northern Mini Blink

(This was written a few days ago)
Happy Mid Summer. I know that there was a bit of a mega blink last night dahn sarf in the smoke. Well oop north near Leeds myself & Beachhutman met up for a quick pint to arrange a to go out for a meal as I'm up in his part of the world. A quick pint & chat about online community.

As the show weekend got nearer, the urgency of the work & length of the days increased. The first weekend of shows has been got out of the way. Yesterday the site was manned by sleep deprived zombies we're no in 'til 10:00 today & finished early yesterday. I took advantage of the early finish to fall asleep in front of the telly around 08:15 & sleep straight through. 12 hours sleep. Bloody brilliant.

Along with Beachhut I spent some time with lil' sis'.

The picture shows somone else I met at the weekend.

The stage is going up & we're plodding on with the site. I should get the camera phone out & do some pictures.<p>I wonder if my HTML will work or wether it'll show. I wonder if E-mail blogging is working on 20six yet? We'll see.

An Evening in Hell

I found this in my phone. It didn't send so I'll try & send it again.

Musical theatre. Probably my least favourite form of entertainment. I think it's a shit concept designed for half brained cretins with no taste.

The show tonight beat all comers as probably the worst thing I've ever seen on a stage & I've seen some right crap in my time, yes I have. I used to work a local battle of the bands night. You would not believe what I've seen with these eyes. Spotty 14 year olds who've had their instruments a week done two practices & got on stage wanting to be the next Metallica. Tonights pile of rancid cock cheese was even worse than that.

The show was something called 'What a Feeling' If it's coming to your town & you've got tickets try & get a refund. If you can't, give the tickets to someone else. Someone you hate & want to have a bad night out.

Sinitta, John, Zoe & Noel were the principal singers backed up with the usual pile of rictus grinning gyrating bimbos & himbo dancers that you just know were excited about being in a nationally touring show. I bet their mothers were proud when they found out they passed the audition & would be one step further towards their dream of West End stardom. I bet they're disowned by all but the blindest mother if they come to see the show. I bet they leave it off their CV I would if I was them.

The show was a Butlinesque caberet type thing. A gloomy backing band on stage going through the motions, with the most pedestrian drummer I've ever heard. He could keep time, but that was about all you could say for him. The 'stars'. Ex-TV talent show has beens apparently. Warbled, belted & murdered hits from the 60's, 70's & 80's All Kareoke standards you'd recognise. Just. There's probably someone down your local bar or club who's at least more amusing in their rendition.

Whilst all this was going on. The dancers did all that jiggling, stepping, jumping & waving their arms about shit they do & you've seen a million times before on rubbish summer TV specials live from Southport. The kind of thing the daughters of pushy mums are taken along to learn on a Saturday morning. Please don't put your daughter on the stage Mrs Worthinton. She may end up in a dog of a show like this one.

The show had no redeeming features, besides the interval, When no one was on stage & the end When they all fucked off. I want those two hours of my life back again. So I can do something less painful like operating on my own brain with power tools.

Why didn't I just leave? I couldn't I was doing a follow spot & had to watch the show. I dunno why what audience there was didn't leave? They could I don't think they'd been locked in.

Alright I still get paid for being there, that's besides the point though. I'm allowed an opinion on the show.

Dunno If this will work, but me on the Big Screen at Take That. Manchester City Stadium. Got there at 09:00 left at 21:00. A long day, but we did see a lot of rehersals & if you're going to see the show you're in for a treat. Lulu smiled at me as well. I'm probably too old for her though.

What's your Superhero special ability?

10 - 15' or 3 - 5m to the left of my head is the PA stack. 20' or 6m behind me is some noisy bastard heavy metal band. Wasting electricity & destroying young peoples hearing.

This is my superhero ability. Sleep anywhere. Maybe not as cool as being able to fly, or sling webs. Bloody useful though.

The Man with the sock full of sand...

...has been visiting me again. He's a relative of the bloke that punches you in the head & steals your money. You know the one? You tend to meet him after "just going out for one drink after work." The next thing you know is you're waking up with a dry mouth, a headache & less money than you left work with. Sometimes he makes you go to the cash point & draw more money out.

The man with the sock full of sand is similar, though he tends to visit after a few days hard work, with an overnighter thrown in for good measure. Whilst you sleep he sneaks in to your room & beats every inch of your body with a sock full of damp sand, thus insuring you wake up with every muscle & joint aching in the morning. He's a bastard is that one.

Curiously a vist from sock o' sandman has the opposite result on your money. You tend to have more of it in your wage packet at the end of the week.

Sometimes it's worth getting up.

Had a great kip in the garden last night. I might kip outside tonight as well. I do like being outside.

The usual Friday stuff today. Sweating in the office, just from sitting & typing in the wages spreadsheet. Nothing much to report.

Except.

One of those golden moments that make it worth getting up, even if the rest of the day is rubbish.

I'd just seen one of our chaps off to work at Download, with instructions & Money for some of the other guys on site. I was heading back to the office & a little old lady ahead of me sat down unsteadily on the wall by the courts. She didn't look as though she was having too bad a time, but you never know. So as I drew level with her I asked her if she was OK, maybe the heat had got to her? She was fine, she had a bad back & just needed a sit down, but thanks for asking. Her next line was sort of random.

"I used to work there during the war..."

An hour or so later we'd had a great chat. She was on her way to pay the council so her sisters ashes could be interred in the local crem'. I'd told her about my Mum & Dads ashes, she'd told me about her son, visiting the psychic, her horrible relatives. Brightened my day up. I hope I brightened hers up a bit, as the tales we told each other caused a few shiny eyes on both sides.

I hope I've still got as many marbles left when I'm twice as old as I am now.

Late night incident

"Fuck off I just want me can of beeya."

*Slam Slam Slam*

"Police... Police... Ya bitch. Open the fucking door. Give me me drink"

A womans voice, equally as harsh starts berating the bloke, he doesn't carry out his threat to hit her & Leaves yelling more obscenities & threats.

You hear some strange things, sitting quietly in your back garden, as the moon sets & the night lights burn down one by one. Typing fingers on the keyboard illuminated by the glow of the screen.

WiFi, Wine, Laptops & balmy nights. What a great combination.

Currently playing:Sitting outside & thinking about sleeping outside.
Current mood:Loving the summer

Summertime & this afternoon was easy.

After spending the last few days sweating at work, It was 38C in the roof & 30C on stage. Coupled with having the goal posts moved several times, whilst bags full of spanners were thrown in the works. Today has been sweet.
Pottered about in the garden & improved a little bit more of my world outside the back door. I'd bought a strimmer the other week that was probably the most inadequate gardening tool known to man. I got given some industrial quality line for it & all of a sudden it was useful.
So I listened to the 6:30 radio 4 comedy slot & The Archers whilst sitting outside enjoying the sun. I then took a trip to the Chinese for some food & the corner shop for some wine & continued my evening sitting outside listening to the radio.
As the moon rose I phoned a pal who'd sent me a couple of texts that I'd not had time to answer & did the uncharacteristic chatting on the phone thing with her.
Sitting in My local beer garden now & wondering if I should sleep outside tonight as it's so balmy. I will be having a night cap & firing up the portable pal & logging on from the back garden when I get back. How good is WiFi? How good are Nokia 9300's? :)

I was trying to mess with my layout on 20six & now the whole of 20six is gone. Just a blank page. WTF?

New Style

I've had Porcupine quills implanted into the top of head. See. The camera doesn't lie :)

I'm on the very cutting edge of fashion.
