Another one bites the dust.

Looks like Flighty has now decided to put his blog here into cold storage (and concentrate on his MrFlighty blog). It's a shame that in recent weeks we've lost Feathers, Artie and Flighty, all of whom made the effort to enter comments elsewhere. Looks like it's time for yours truly to join the rats (meant in a nice way of course).

Here's my new blog:

A picture tells a thousand words...

Or, perhaps the funniest thing I've seen this week..

Phew!

Just updated my website (http://www.backhomeuk.co.uk/) . Seemed to take ages (and to be honest Page 2 needs some work and cleaning up). I'm glad I've done it, even though I suspect it will still get few visitors. It means that I can quote it on job applications as an example of my web writing capabilities. Hope it displays ok on different browsers ...

Found a great list (http://freelanceswitch.com/general/46-must-read-productivity-tips-for-freelancers/ ) with advice that's great for all workers. Come to think of it, a lot of advice would be good for me too! Here's one entry: Learn to check email just twice a day. I don't know how feasible that would be, but it certainly seems a good principle to follow.

Last of the summer.

It's been quite nice the last couple of weeks, and we've seen some sunshine. It's going to change now though, and soon it'll be getting dark early. Not something I'm looking forward to. At least I have plenty (computer wise) on which to keep me busy. Looks like the Uk establishment (companies and agencies alike) have decided over 40s like me are unemployable. Wonder if I'm capable of going free-lance? Ah, but that needs talent and skills, doesn't it? Ah well..dream on. At least I won't be wasting any money on pensions, mortgages etc. If I do reach retirement age (unlikely from where I'm standing) I'll get the benefit people to pay for my rent.

Time flies

Where were you when Diana died (I was staying at my brother's house in Derbyshire). Where were you when you first heard of the nine-eleven attacks (in my then flat in Nottingham - gawd I miss that place). First event was ten years ago, the second was six years ago. A lot of water under the bridge since then...
