Pooling resources...
A sign of a misspent youth is the classic explanation for being good at playing pool. In my case, it was the misspending of my grant cheque at university - many a happy hour was spent on the pool table in the Student Union bar, honing my skills. I would never really claim to be that good though, even after all that practice!

I have only recently started to play again, and from what I can tell, there seems to be precious few places which have pool tables in the Kingston area. Below are some of my findings:
- I have seen a Pool club on Kingston Road, just up from the Kingstonian Football ground. This has only really been observed from my car as I haven't been tempted to go in - it looks a bit on the dodgy side and I value my life.
- In Portsmouth Road there is a good table in the Fox and Hounds pub. The table is accessible from all sides, and it is not usually too hard to get on for a game.
- The New Inn at Long Ditton has the best table so far, which is usually easy to get on to play. The only issue is that accessibility can be slightly impaired by the bar at one side, but this is a very minor problem.
- The Elm Tree in Victoria Road, Surbiton is probably the easiest place to travel to for a game. Accessibility is severely limited on two sides by a brick fireplace, which was probably not the most well thought out renovation. The table is also hard to get on as the place can get very busy.
As you can see from the above, all the places I know are in the Surbiton area. If anyone else knows of any other places that have pool tables, please let me know.

An afternoon to remember?...
If you told me early last Saturday I would be watching a show starring Patrick Kielty, I would not have believed it.
That is exactly what happened though, due to the fact I was out on a date. The lady I was out with had got hold of some tickets to a matinee showing of 'A Night In November', which since it was our first one, was really nice of her. This was Patrick Kielty's one man show, and, set in the Belfast of the early 90's, told the storey of how a protestant Civil Servants perception of the troubles completely changed after going to a football match between the Republican and Northern Irish teams.
Although I can't claim to be a fan of Patrick Kielty, I thought he did a pretty good job - his acting of all the roles was good, and the storyline was well delivered and easy to follow.
We both enjoyed the play - it was only a shame that the date didn't go as well - it sort of went pairshaped at the last hurdle!
Looks like it is back to square one...
