Advice and reccomendations..

So, this indian summer won't last long I feel, and I'm now left with lots of holiday allowance, a little money and a yearning to lie in the sun..possibly Greece.

None of my friends want to/have time to go on holiday, so this means I need to go on my own. Now, I pretty much see myself going through life on my own (yes, yes I do have friends, but I don't see me 'coupling up'), so it's high time I tackled the solo holiday. I am easily brave enough to go stay in a city on my own, that's not hard. But can I tackle a lazy holiday in the sun by myself. Somehow this seems so much harder.  I just want to go stay somewhere quiet near the sea where I can potter and sunbathe and swin without feeling either like a loser or intimidated.

Have you ever done it?   Bit of a longshot but you can reccomend any sleepy Greek villages with affordable accomodation where a single girl won't mind going?

That's depressing now I re-read it, but I'm determined not to be beaten on this.

It's not depressing at all - it would be depressing if you decided not to go on holidays!
I've no advice about the Greece thing, having never been, but I did a loungey-sun holiday once and found audiobooks a great idea. If you've an ipod/mp3 player, load up lots of books and you're sorted. I love being on my own but sometimes I get a bit bored and audiobooks stop me going a bit stir-fry :)

Yes I have travelled solo...I was a bit apprehensive at first, but believe me...it was GREAT! And my next holidays will be either with a romantic partner or alone. Full stop.

I did Tunisa on my own a good few years back, which was fine, if there was the occasional twinge, and the occasional desire to turn to a companion and go, 'have you seen-?'. Tunisa, admittedly, may not be the best place for a (inexplicably) single girl. But therin lies the rub: do you actually wanna do a lazy in the sun holiday on your own - or do you want to occupy yourself with lots of sightseeing and excursions? After all, you write the iternie .. iternar .. uh, the timetable. x
